William E. Acord
William E. Acord, son of the late Arthur Bertis Acord and Pearl Mae Howell Acord, was born on March 13, 1932, at Dexter and died in the John Cochran Veterans Administration Medical Center at St. Louis on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at the age of 73.

Mr. Acord was a former employee of Adams and McCord Paint Contractors in Dexter for over 30 years, a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Judith Magee Smith on Sept. 29, 1972, at Dexter. Mrs. Acord survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, survivors include one step-daughters, Teresa Smith of Dexter; two brothers, Leroy Bud Acord of Dexter and Donald Acord of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Grace Harris of New Madrid and Mary Roberts of LaGrange, Ga.; and one grandson, Charles Carroll.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Randal Eugene Acord and Charles "Chuck" Acord; three sisters, Esther Brickeen, Mable Breedlove and Ruby Williams.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with Rev. Mike Foster officiating.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
