Mary Knight Cox

Mary Cox, daughter of the late William R. Knight and Margaret Berry Knight, was born on March 18, 1921, at Goshen, Ark., and died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland, Ill., on Nov. 14, 2005, at the age of 84.

Mary was a member of Southwest Church of Nazarene in Dexter, a member of Dexter Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a retired secretary for Missouri State Probation and Parole in Dexter and Sikeston for 20 years, and a resident of Dexter.

On April 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ray L. Cox at Dexter. Mr. Cox preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas Ray Cox of Olathe, Kan., and Stephen Alan Cox of Highland, Ill.; one sister, Joan Aarant of Dexter; and also by four grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Beryl Knight, Richard Knight and Jimmie Knight; and one sister, Hazel Fry.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ed Stoner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
