Lourene Caldwell Thacker

Lourene Caldwell Thacker, daughter of the late William Wesley Caldwell and Nora Hoke Caldwell, was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Chickasaw County, Miss., and died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Kennett, at the age of 85.

She was a homemaker and a member of College Hill Baptist Church in Calhoun County but attended the Boekerton Baptist Church in Portageville.

Survivors include her five daughters, Nancy Ellen Serlgstad of Lake San Marcus, Calif., Linda Forrester of Portageville, LaQuita Gloth of Rockwell, Texas, Dorothy Turner of Kennett, and Gail Burton of Portageville; three sons, J.K. Thacker, Jr., Wayne Thacker, and Johnny Thacker, all of Portageville; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kirk Thacker, Sr.; her parents, William Wesley Caldwell and Nora Hoke Caldwell; five children, William Bross Thacker, Frances Ruth Thacker, Mamie Annette Thacker, and deceased infant twins; a brother, Glen Caldwell; two sisters, Nell Redcher and Sue Tanguey; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, at Pryor Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Burton officiating.

Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Chickasaw County.
