He had lived in the Parma and Catron areas for many years before moving to Flint, Mich., where he retired after 30 years with Buick Motors. Mr. Whitworth moved to Poplar Bluff in 1981. He was a member of the Twin Springs Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.
On Oct. 2, 1944, he was married to Violet Borders in Piggott, Ark.
Surviving are his wife, Violet Whitworth of Poplar Bluff; one son, Dennis Whitworth of Flint, Mich.; five daughters, Shirley Wheat and Sherry Trostel, both of Poplar Bluff, Sandra Johnson of Otter Lake, Mich., Glenda Simpkins of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Brenda Southworth of Twining, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Junior Vester of Poplar Bluff officiating.
Interment will follow in the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
