Marion Wilbert Smith, the son of the late Charles and Bertha Delaney Smith, was born in Neelyville on June 29, 1933, and died at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on Dec. 16, 2005, at the age of 72.

He had lived in Puxico for many years. He was a retired carpenter, enjoyed wood working and working in his yard.

He was first married to Barbara Biggs and two children were born. He later married Barbara Powell Howard.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Smith of Puxico; one son, Randy Smith of Poplar Bluff; one daughter, Becky Cannaday of Poplar Bluff; one step-son, Richard Howard of Jackson; two step-daughters, Melodie Summers of Poplar Bluff and Candy Williams of Broseley; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Smith of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Goldie Meyer of Overland and Pauline Gallion of Bellevue, Ill.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Taze, Leroy, Odes, and Kenneth Smith; two sisters, Grace Ashby and Lydia Poglejan.

Visitation was held after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Dean Medlin of Parma officiating.

Interment followed in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
