John Barton Lloyd, Jr. of Cuba was born April 10, 1924, at Green Brier to the union of John Barton Lloyd, Sr. and Nellie Virginia (Dixon) Lloyd and died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at his residence in Cuba at the age of 81.
John has been united in marriage for over 60 years to Wanda Maxine Lloyd. They were married at St. Louis and to this union four children were born; John, B. III, Rodney, Betty and Rebecca.
John was an employee for Steel Weld Equipment at St. Clair for 36 years. He retired as the plant manager at the age of 62. John had been an ordained minister for the Assembly of God Church for 50 years. He was a master wood carver and talented painter having painted murals on the nose of airplanes in England during World War II while serving in the U.S. Air Corps.
John is preceded in death by his parents and other family members.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his wife, Maxine; two sons, John B. Lloyd III of Sullivan and Rodney Lloyd of the Keys in Florida; two daughters, Betty Bouse of Bourbon and Rebecca Swope of Cuba; one brother, Roy Lloyd of Advance; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Britton Funeral Home in Cuba.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Calvary Assembly of God Church of Cuba.
Interment followed in Kinder Cemetery with full military honors.
All arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home in Cuba.
