Samuel Dale True, Sr., 60, a resident of Wappapello, formerly of Dexter and Mississippi County, died at his residence Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005.

Born April 1, 1945, in Dorena to the late Homer Curtis and Emma Margaret Matheny True, Samuel had lived in Wappapello for the past 17 years, moving from Dexter. He was a retired farmer and truck driver, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On Sept. 4, 1998, he married Onia Faye Smith Hendley, who survives of the home.

He is survived by one daughter, Tammy kellar of Mobile, Ala.; three step-daughters, Debbie Ferguson of Bernie, Rhonda McCoy of Dexter and Kim Walker of Wappapello; three brothers, James True of Sikeston, Joe Bob True of Wappapello, and Shirley True of Bell City; four sisters, Laverne Dunn of East Prairie, Ann Ferrell of Paducah, Ky., Virginia Trew of Rolla, and Linda Marshall of Baton Rouge, La.; and six step-grandchildren.

One son, Samuel Dale True, Jr. and one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Visitation was held after 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at the Shelby Chapel with Bro. Tim Hall officiating.

Interment followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie in charge of arrangements. Full military rites were conducted by the Missouri Funeral Honors program.
