Helen Shipman White, daughter of the late George and Izaria Wells Crowe, was born in Eldorado, Ill., on Oct. 29, 1918, and died at the Heritage Oaks Nursing Home in Corsicana, Texas, on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at the age of 87.
She had lived in Dexter for many years before moving to Texas five years ago. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was first married to James Curtis Shipman, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1958. On May 19, 1979, she was married to Eltee White in McDougal, Ark. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1993.
Surviving are one son, Gene Shipman of Corsicana, Texas; two sisters, Gladys Sadler of Dexter and Jean Fugate of Lebanon, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dean Shipman; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation was held from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Dan Sitze of Bloomfield officiating.
Interment followed in the Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield.
Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter was in charge of arrangements.
