Rev. George Hill

Rev. George Hill, son of the late James R. and Pearl Mae Hunott Hill, was born in Matthews on Jan. 17, 1918, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare facility in Dexter on Jan. 10, 2006, at the age of 87.

He had lived in the Matthews and Sikeston area until moving to Essex since 1940. He had pastored the Assembly of God Church in Essex for approximately 40 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

On March 13, 1937, he was married to Geneva "Neet" Tetley in Sikeston. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1999. On August 20, 1999, he was married to Wanda Hayes Sides in Dexter.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Hill of Essex; three daughters, Charlotte Merideth of Essex, Connie Thompson of Sikeston, and Georgia Ann Horton of Essex; one step-daughter, Sharon Dial of Demopolis, Ala.; two step-sons, Garry Sides of Essex, Dean Sides of Newport, Ark.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; seven step-grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by by two brothers, Robert and Richard Hill; and three sisters, Aura Harper, Louise Schaeffer, and Alfreda Schultz; one step-daughter, Pam Sides.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Larie Burdine of Essex, Rev. David Looney of Sikeston, and Rev. Mike Brown of Essex officiating.

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery in Essex with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
