Pauline Dowdy, daughter of the late Bertis Monroe Lawrence and Mabel Jennings Lawrence, was born on Dec. 20, 1913, near Dexter and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at the age of 92.

Mrs. Dowdy was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ, a former member of the Bridge Church of Christ near Dexter, a former L.P.N. for the Dexter Memorial Hospital, a member of the Dexter Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Golden Age Quilters, a volunteer for the Reach To Recovery Breast Cancer Survivors Organization, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, a former 4H Leader and the former sponsor for the Candy Stripers at Dexter Memorial Hospital.

She was united in marriage to Danzil Dowdy on May 9, 1933, at Bloomfield. Mr. Dowdy preceded her in death on April 13, 1982.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in law, Dan and Linda Dowdy of Dexter and Larry and Margaret Dowdy of Cape Girardeau; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Dowdy Crum and Bernie of Park Hills, Roberta Dowdy Sanders and Paul of Columbia, and Gloria Lynn Dowdy of Kansas City; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Dowdy of Dexter; three nieces, Dorlus Tucker of Dexter, Barbara Field and Leanna Canaday, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Darrol Dowdy and Norval Lawrence Dowdy; and two brothers, Carl Lawrence and Clyde Lawrence.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Don Bahr officiating.

Interment will follow in the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter.
