Douglas Edward Hurst, Sr.
Douglas Hurst, Sr., son of Delores Blankenship Hurst of Dexter and the late Henry Edward Hurst, was born on May 5, 1961, in Peoria, Ill., and died on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at the age of 44.

Mr. Hurst was an employee of Hampton's Farm for nine years in Dexter, a member of the Dexter Eagles #4062, and a resident of Dexter.

On Feb. 12, 2005, he was united in marriage to Ruth Lumsden in Dexter. Mrs. Hurst survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, Ruth Hurst and mother, Delores Hurst, both of Dexter, other survivors include two sons, Douglas Edward Hurst, Jr. of Bloomfield and Cody Matthew Hurst of Hot Springs, Ark.; by two step-sons, Billy Estes Howdeshell of the state of Washington, and Barry Allan Blevins of Dexter; three step-daughters, Jennifer Leigh Blevins and Rachel Lynn Woods, both of Dexter, and Gena Marie Howdeshell of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Chris Hurst of Parma; five sisters, Kathy Lindsey of Medina, Ohio, Joyce McIllwaim of Jackson, Tenn., Lisa Pennington of Puxico, Trish Williams and Charity Hurst, both of Dexter; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Tim Russell officiating.
