Tuesday, February 14, 2006

Thomas Latham McFerron, 56, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at his residence in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Friday, Jan. 20, 1950, in Cape Girardeau to the late Thomas J. and Virginia K. Latham McFerron.

He is survives by a special friend, Brenda J. Gaines of Cape Girardeau; a son, Robert Meyers of St. Louis; three aunts, Helen McFerron and Naomi Latham, both of Cape Girardeau, and Manie Whitlock of California; many cousins and friends.

During Tom's younger years he was involved in Demolay and became an Eagle Scout. One of his major endeavors and enjoyments was learning to play pool at the young age of 14. He was known to spend many hours practicing different shots until he would figure out all aspects of the shot. As Tom's skills kept improving he would practice that much harder till he had it down to a fine art from making the shots to making sure of the cue ball placement. Tom's pool playing abilities and knowledge was admired and requested by many. It was a known fact that if there was a way to hit, make and get shape for the next shot, Tom was able to figure it out. He coached and taught many of his techniques in playing billiards which will never be forgotten.

Tom was named Player of the Year in 1994, made numerous trips to Area Wide, Las Vegas National Tournaments and Pioneer National Tournaments. He was an avid member of American Poolplayers Association, Billiard Congress of America, Missouri Eight Ball and Pioneer Eight Ball Leagues respectfully.
