Tommy Joe Hankins, son of the late James Robert and Willie Agnes Hankins, was born at Miligan Ridge, Ark., on Jan. 15, 1936, and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at the age of 70.

Mr. Hankins moved to the Bloomfield community at the age of 15. He was involved in farming, worked at Hankins Hardware in Bloomfield, but for the past several years had a small engine repair shop in Bloomfield. Tom was a member of the B.P.O.E. in Dexter and was of the Baptist faith. On March 24, 1954, he was married to Connie Layton.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Hankins of the home in Bloomfield; two sons and their wives, Tommy Lee and Marie Hankins and Joe and Renee Hankins, all of Bloomfield; a half-sister, Vera Hindman of Tyronza, Ark.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and a lifelong friend Bob Holford of Bloomfield.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Dan Sitze officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
