helby Franklin Jones, son of the late Taylor Gilbert and Lucy Bell Marcum Jones, was born in Parma on Aug. 1, 1925, and died at his home in Parma on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at the age of 80.
He had worked in St. Louis for many years and moved back to Parma in 1987. he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he received the American Area Victory Medal, four Asiatic Pacific Stars, two Philippine Liberation Stars and a Unit Commendation. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
On Dec. 12, 1946, he was married to Imogene Morgan in Piggott, Ark. Surviving are his wife, Imogene Jones of Parma; two daughters, Shelby Vishy of Catawissa and Carol Robinson of High Ridge; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Freda M. Morgan, Corvenia and Cecilia Irene Jones; and seven brothers, Nathen B., Clarence, Richard, Hughie, Coy, James Evert, and Taylor G. Jones.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden with Bro. Charles Mays of Malden officiating.
Full military rites were provided by the Stoddard County Veterans Honor Team.
Interment followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
