Mrs. Christian was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter, a former assembly line worker for Elder Manufacturing Company in Dexter, a former L.P.N. where she worked private in-home care and a resident of Dexter.
She was first united in marriage to Willie E. Meeks on Sept. 19, 1931, at Kennett. Mr. Meeks preceded her in death on March 18, 1942. She then married Dewey Christian on Oct. 4, 1943, at Piggott, Ark. Mr. Christian preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1982.
Survivors include four sons, Willie Meeks of St. Charles, Harold Don Meeks and Charles E. Meeks, both of Alton, Ill., and Gene Christian of Dexter; three daughters, Peggy Sielert and Norma James, both of Dexter, and Eloise Nickelson of Walls, Miss.; one brother, Edgar Wells of Moro, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lottie Fay Christian; two brothers, Everett Wells and Raymond Wells.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, march 3, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Wiggins officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
