Carl B. "Bunk" Swallows, 78, of Puxico died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at his residence, Mr. Swallows was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Bloomfield. A former resident of Bloomfield and Poplar Bluff, he moved to Puxico in 1963. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was employed at Southwestern Bell and retired in 1986 after 35 years.

On July 23, 1955, he married Dean Renfro in Dexter. She survives.

Other survivors include two children, Dan Swallows and Lisa Brovold, both of Winter Set, Iowa; two nephews, Todd and Scott Swallows; and one niece, Sally Miller.

Preceding him in death were one son, Tom Swallows; one brother, J.R. Swallows; and his parents, Cecil and Ann Swallows.

Visitation will be held at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Morgan-Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Puxico City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Preferred Hospice in Dexter or American Heart Association and Telephone Pioneers of which he was a life member.
