Gertrude Olia Ryan Downie, the daughter of the late Joseph Patrick and Olia Elgin Bryant Ryan, was born in Union County, Miss., on March 7, 1915, and died at the Christian Health Care in Nevada on Friday, March 10, 2006, at the age of 91.

She and Laird Downie were united in marriage on Aug. 16, 1936, at Dyersburg, Tenn.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Downie of Athens, Ga., and Rod Downie of Covington, La.; two daughters, Rosemary Noel of Bronaugh, and Patricia Downie of Glenburnie, Md.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Carl Ryan of Puxico and Thad Ryan of Morehouse.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Jerry, Arnold, Everett and Grady Ryan.

Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico.

Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
