Wayne Maurice Stevens, son of the late Linous Stevens and Beulah Campbell Stevens, was born on Jan. 27, 1939, near Dexter and died in Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the age of 67.

Mr. Stevens was a farmer, a veteran of the United States Navy and a resident of rural Essex.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Walters in 1958 and to this union two sons were born.

Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Lee Stevens and Nathan Wayne Stevens, both of Dexter; one daughter, Karen Lynn Cook of Dexter; one brother, Tom Stevens of Dexter; and 10 grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Troy Stevens and Don Stevens.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Kevin Chenoweth officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sadler Chapel Cemetery.
