Beulah "Boots" Hartz

Beulah "Boots" Hartz, the daughter of the late Willim J. and Ora Bates Johnston, was born in Victoria, La., on Aug. 20, 1921, and died at the Puxico Nursing and Rehab Center on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the age of 84.

Mrs. Hartz' family moved to Dale Spur just south of Puxico where she was raised. She worked for the Puxico Handle Factory in Puxico. She also lived in St. Louis. She and her husband moved their family to Bakersfield, Calif., where she resided and worked for 30 years for Sears Federated Stores before returning to Puxico. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Assembly of God Church.

On Oct. 7, 1936, she was married to Oliver William "Bub" Hartz in Puxico.

Surviving are her husband, Oliver "Bub" Hartz of Puxico; one son, Dwain Hartz of Sparks, Nev.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by three brothers, Claude, Andrew and William Johnston; and one sister, Margaret Johnston.

Visitation took place after 6 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico officiating.

Interment followed in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
