Rev. Paul E. Montgomery

Rev. Paul E. Montgomery, son of the late John Silas Montgomery and Charity Mae Kiefer Montgomery, was born on Nov. 29, 1932, in Gideon and died at Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the age of 73.

Mr. Montgomery was a retired minister, a member of the Shamrock Drive Baptist Church, taught first and second grade Sunday School 17 years and had pastored Black River General Baptist Church in Broseley. He completed Oakland City University in Oakland City, Ind., and received an A.B.S. degree, also receiving a Master of Divinity Degree from Southeastern Theological Seminary. He retired from U.P.S. Customer Service after nine years of service.

He was united in marriage to Freda Honeycutt on Feb. 13, 1986, at Charlotte, N.C. Mrs. Montgomery survives of the home in Charlotte, N.C.

Besides his wife, other survivors include five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Bill Montgomery and Lola of Paducah, Ky., Breman Montgomery and Carolyn of Dexter, Sam Montgomery of Dexter, Robert Montgomery and Delores of St. Charles, and Hollis Montgomery and Darlene of Dexter; one sister and brother-in-law, Joann Golden and Larry of Malden.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. James Trotter officiating.
