Barbara Joyce Gaines, daughter of Raleigh "Fuzz" and Mildred Walker Palmer, was born in Aquilla on Oct. 12, 1941, and died at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on April 6, 2006, at the age of 64.

She had lived in the Aquilla and Dexter areas all of her life. She attended the Mt. Pisgah General Baptist Church in Aquilla.

On May 6, 1961, she was married to Richard D. Gaines in Dexter.

Surviving are her husband, Richard Gaines of Dexter; one daughter, Tammy Jean Vaughn of Dexter; one granddaughter; her parents, Raleigh "Fuzz" and Mildred Palmer of Aquilla; one brother, Jim Palmer of Dexter; two sisters, Elsie Lee Fry of Aquilla and Kathy Hyslop of Advance.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Raymond Hannah of Fredericktown officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
