Lavada Faries

Lavada Faries, the daughter of the late Thomas Albert "Abner" and Florence Belle Coleman Crunk Faries, was born in Poplar Bluff on Nov. 22, 1923, and died at her home near Puxico on Saturday, April 8, 2006, at the age of 82.

Mrs. Faries had lived in the Puxico area all her life. She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Wappapello.

On Dec. 18, 1940, she was married to Alvin Faries in Poplar Bluff. They had enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

Surviving are her husband, Alvin Faries of Puxico; two sons, Bill Faries and Ron Faries, all of Puxico; one daughter, Pat Dunivan of Puxico; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abner and Belle Crunk; one son, Randy Faries, three brothers, her twin Billy, Tom and Charles Crunk; and five sisters, Jesse Warrington, Ethel, Pansy, Lois, and Marie Crunk.

Visitation was held after 6 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Danny Dunivan of Oakland City, Ind., officiating.

Interment followed in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
