Joe Donald Hurley, son of the late Joe Faris and Ruby Holland Hurley, was born in Steele on March 19, 1936.

On Nov. 27, 1993, Joe became the recipient of a heart transplant at U.C.L.A. Hospital but lost the battle with cancer at his home in Riverside, Calif., on March 30, 2006, at the age of 70.

On Feb. 14, 1959, he was married to Barbara Jean Rickman.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Jean Rickman of Riverside, Calif.; one son, Roger Hurley of Arkansas; one daughter, Cynthia (Tina) Sydow of Riverside, Calif.; one brother, William Hurley of Petal, Miss.; three sisters, Peggy Young and Barbara Jordon, both of Dexter, and Tammi Williams of Tucson, Ariz; and one grandson.

Private interment was handled by Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Chapel and Mortuary in Riverside, Calif.
