Marie Miller Godwin, daughter of the late Andrew Pearl Hope and Evalee Young Hope, was born on May 21, 1920, in Bernie and died at Houston North West Medical Center in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, April 22, 2006, at the age of 85.

Mrs. Godwin was a former resident of Dexter and Poplar Bluff having moved to Houston, Texas, seven years ago. She was a nurse at Dexter Memorial Hospital for 20 years and affiliated with the Assembly of God Church in Houston, Texas.

She was united in marriage to Willis Godwin on April 15, 1978, in Dexter. Mr. Godwin preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald Miller of Belleville, Ill., Richard Miller of Hillsboro, and Lindell Miller of Houston, Texas; two daughters, LeeAndra Jordan of Houston, Texas, and Sherrill Henneman of St. Peters; one brother, Kenneth Hope of Dearborn, Mich.; and one sister, Pauline Kingsley of Dearborn, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Adams, Geneva Bowman, and Audrey Nevasata.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Kent Miller officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
