Woodrow Horton

Woodrow "Woody" Horton, son of the late Warren Horton and Ruth Ann Overbey Horton, was born on July 25, 1917, at Lamar, Ark., and died in the Cypress Point Healthcare at Dexter on May 2, 2006, at the age of 88.

Mr. Horton was of the Methodist faith, the former owner of Faye's Bakery in Dexter for 42 years with his wife, Faye, a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Ida Faye Clark on March 9, 1940, at Springdale, Ark. Mrs. Horton preceded him in death on April 23, 1996.

Survivors include two sons, Wilson Horton and Tommy Horton, both of Dexter; one daughter, Glenda Medlock of Charleston; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Horton.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Dr. Vyron Yount officiating.

Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
