Farris Lee "Gus"Sliger, 69, of Pana, Ill., died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at 9:44 p.m. in Pana Community Hospital located in Pana, Ill.
He was born April 24, 1937, in Morehouse, the son of Herbert Lee and Edna Maris Farris Sliger. He had retired from Pana Township due to illness. He enjoyed fishing and loved his grandkids.
He was a graduate of Morehouse High School, and he came to Pana, Ill., in 1972 from Morehouse. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God in Assumption.
He married Dorothy Lou Reynolds.
Survivors include his children, James Sliger and Donna Lynn Smith of Pana, Ill.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Sliger and Rev. Johnie Sliger of Southaven, Miss.; and one sister, Rosemary Ford of Dexter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife on Feb. 20, 1989.
Memorials may be made to Pana Community Hospital Foundation for Hospice.
Visitation was held from 5-7:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2006, at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home in Pana, Ill.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 22, 2006, at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor David Beerbower officiating.
Graveside services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield.
