Gary Donald Martin, son of the late Rufus C. and Audrey Shriner, was born in Caraway, Ark., on Oct. 26, 1945, and died on Friday, May 19, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston at the age of 60.

Mr. Martin had been a resident of rural Essex all his life. He was the former owner of Martin Hill Retirement Home near Essex. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Viet Nam.

Survivors include his wife Greta of the home in Essex; one son, Tony Martin of Terre Haute, Ind.; three daughters, Lisa Don Bollinger, Bonnie Lucille O'Reilly and Patricia Lee Ann Martin, all of Essex; one step-daughter, Sondra Street of Sikeson; one brother, Darrell Martin of Essex; one sister, Scarlett Justice of Sikeston; and eight grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Visitation was held after 1 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2006, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2006, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Interment followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
