Aron "Jack" Thompson, son of ;the late Jeff and Dessie Mae Young Thompson, was born in Rosston, Ark., on June 20, 1918, and died at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston on May 23, 2006, at the age of 87.

Mr. Thompson had worked as a shipping clerk for a furniture company and had worked for over 12 years for the Richland High School. He had lived in California for many years and had made hishome in Essex the past 33 years. He was a member of the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Essex and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.

On Feb. 18, 1975, he was married to Annie Hill in Malden.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Thompson of Essex; one daughter, Angelia Liggins of Sikeston; six sons, Aron Thompson, Jr., Jackie Thompson, and Donnie Thompson, all of Los Angeles, Calif., Andre Thompson of Essex, Kelvin Jeff Thompson of Sikeston, Steven Thompson of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchidren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Thompson of Rockford, Ill.; and one sister, Opal Lindsey of Detroit, Mich.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the Watkins & sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. James Turk of Sikeston officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at 10 a.m.

Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
