James Canoy, son of the late Archie Culin Canoy and Dollie Mae Thomas Canoy, was born on Dec. 26, 1936, in Wardell and died at his residence in Dexter on Sunday, June 4, 2006, at the age of 69.

On Nov. 2, 1984, he was united in marriage to Eva May Smiley at Dexter. Mrs. Canoy survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, other survivors include two step-sons, Brian Palmer of Advance and Roger Palmer of Illinois; two daughters, Crystal Gail Canoy of Dexter and Bonnie Sue Skull of Alabama; by one step-daughter Corina May Palmer Stafford of Campbell; one brother, Jerry Canoy of Zalma; three sisters, Nancy Canoy of Puxico, Rebecca Stroup of Kinder, and Dollie Jane Townsend of Chaffee; and five grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Ray Canoy and James Canoy; also by one sister, Naomi Crews.

Mr. Canoy's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter will be conducting all services.
