Agnes Mary Fortman, 94, was born Aug. 13, 1911, at Leonore, Ill., and died Monday, June 5, 2006, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

She was the daughter of Henry Gass, Sr. and Mary Fluech Gass.

She had married Frederick Henry Fortman on Feb. 3, 1932, at Glennonville, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1984. Mrs. Fortman had been a homemaker, a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Glennonville, and a member of the St. Ann's Altar Society.

Survivors include seven sons: Leo Fortman of Phoenix, Ariz., Paul Fortman of Farmington, Fred Fortman, Jr., of Wappapello, Bernard Fortman of Troy, Willie Fortman of Dexter, Richard Fortman of Campbell, and Jim Fortman of Chester, Ill.; five daughters, Agnes Altmeyer of Evansville, Ind., Mary Bernadine Fortman of Glennonville, Virginia Pentecost of St. Louis, Cecelia Fortman of St. Louis, and Susan Allen of Dexter; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; one brother, George Gass of Murphysboro, Ill.; and three sisters, Lydia Reed of O'Fallon, Mildred Blume of Poplar Bluff and Irene Brown of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son; one sister, Anna Gass; and five brothers, Joseph Gass, William Gass, Charles Gass, Norbert Gass and Henry Gass.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Landess Funeral home in Campbell with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Glennonville with Father Dan Hirtz officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Teresa's Cemetery in Glennonville.
