Martin had lived in the Puxico area most of his life. He was a self-employed truck driver. He was a 1977 graduate of Puxico High School. His hobbies included fishing, working in his shop, and spending time with children and his granddaughter Kaiti.
On Oct. 13, 1979, he was married to Vickie Gardner in Puxico.
Surviving are his wife, Vickie Payne of Puxico; one son, Tommy Payne of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Jackie Payne Harmon and Tonya Payne, both of Puxico; two brothers, Marlin Payne of Bluffton, Ark., and David Payne of Puxico; one sister, Tammy Wheetley of Puxico; one grandchild; his father, Tommy Payne, of Puxico; and his mother, Audrie Payne of Puxico.
Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico with Rev. Phillip Tanner of Puxico officiating.
Interment will follow in the McGee Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
