Finis Elvin Capps, son of the late Alfred Capps and Bertie Sitz Capps, was born on Jan. 30, 1920, near Bloomfield and died in Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at the age of 86.

Finis had been a resident of the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomfield for the last six years.

Except for the time spent in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Finis had lived his entire life in Stoddard County. He was a MoDOT retiree.

Survivors include his wife, Fay Hardy Capps of the home; two daughters, Lavern Garner of Dexter and Marcia Aberle of Brookline; one son, Dennis Capps of Center Point, Ind.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Cooper officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
