Eva L. Appleton, daughter of the late Jesse and Ettie McMahan Reeves, was born in Canalou on July 11, 1920, and died at the St. Louis University Hospital on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at the age of 86.

Mrs. Appleton had lived in Canalou before moving to St. Louis in 1951. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis.

On May 16, 1939, she was married to Sidney Walter Appleton in Canalou. He preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1960.

Surviving are five sons, Sidney Appleton, Jr., Gary Appleton, Melvin Appleton, and Harold Appleton, all of St. Louis, and Jerry Appleton of Wappapello; one daughter, Carolyn Appleton of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Mike Watkins of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
