Oather Lee (O.L.) Sims, son of the late James W. and Tennie Mathis Sims, was born on July 22, 1910, at Melbourne, Ark., and died on Monday, July 24, 2006, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 96.

Mr. Sims was united in marriage to Sepha Mae Dale on Sept. 5, 1931, in Melbourne, Ark. Mrs. Sims preceded him in death on Jan. 27, 1992.

Mr. Sims is survived by two sons, John W. Sims of Gulfport, Miss., and Danny R. Sims of Columbia; four daughters, Faye Morgan of Sikeston, Gale Simmering of Dexter, Paige Tanner of Hollister, and Janice Sims of Mountain Home, Ark.; one brother, Noil Sims of Coral Gables, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by other family and friends, including a special friend, Alice Sims of Poplar Bluff.

He was preceded in death by one son, Roy Sims in infancy; one daughter, Vona Baker; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; four brothers, Robert Sims, Arthur Sims, Odie Sims and Joe Sims; four sisters, Vada Brownfield, Maggie Toy, Lucy McManners and Margie Cook.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Maxwell Lewis officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at the First Pentecostal Church in Bernie.
