Gussie Miller

Tuesday, August 8, 2006

Gussie Miller, formerly of Bernie, daughter of the late Augustus Richert and Levica Ellen Gibson Richert, was born on Sept. 3, 1913, at Kane, Ill., and died in Jefferson City on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at the age of 92.

After the death of her father, Gussie and her family moved to Stoddard County, just a few miles from Bernie. They later moved into the city. When Gussie was old enough, she started work at Elder Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1951.

She was united in marriage to V.O. Miller on Dec. 26, 1951, at Piggott, Ark. Gussie moved back to the farm once again and later gave birth to Amy in 1953. Gussie's two eldest daughters Gail and Louellen and their children loved Grandpa and Granny Gus and the farm life. Once V.O. retired, they moved to the city of Bernie. V.O. preceded his wife in death on Nov. 14, 1990. We will miss our beloved Mother and Grandmother.

Gussie was a member of the Bernie Church of Christ.

Gussie was survived by her three daughters, Amy Miller of Jefferson City, Louellen DiStefano of Malden and Gail Thurson of Holiday, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. with Stan Dauck officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
