Mary Ruth Smith

Mary Ruth Smith, daughter of the late John and Cecelia Bryant Scism, was born at Poplar Bluff on Feb. 19, 1917, and died at Beverly Healthcare in Bloomfield on Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at the age of 89.

Mrs. Smith had spent most of her life in the Bloomfield community. She was a member of the Mt. Pisgah General Baptist Church at Aquilla and a housewife. On Oct. 9, 1936, she was married to Ernest Smith, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2001. She was also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Walker of Puxico; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Dean Medlin officiating.

Interment followed in North Antioch Cemetery near Bloomfield.
