Mr. Baker was a resident of Dexter. He had worked all of his life as a carpenter and had built many homes in the Dexter and Bloomfield communities. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, having served during World War II.
In January 1944 he was married to Vera Craft.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Baker of the home in Bloomfield; one son, Dennis Baker of Tallahassee, Fla.; one sister, Rose Baker of Bloomfield; and two grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Baker; and one sister, Dovie Harper.
Visitation was held Saturday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Kenneth Gaines officiating. Interment followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
