Carl V. Stewart, son of the late Addison and Grace Stewart, was born in Parma on Oct. 11, 1922, and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at the age of 83.

Mr. Stewart had lived in the Wappapello and Poplar Bluff areas most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Amvets Post in Poplar Bluff, the Wappapello V.F.W. Post #3410, and a lifetime member of the Eagles Aerie #4066 in Wappapello. He enjoyed mechanic work, hunting and fishing.

He was married to Wanda Young. She preceded him in death in 1988.

Surviving are one daughter, Margaret Williams of St. Louis; one brother, Tom Stewart of St. Louis; two sisters, Mary Bulger of Poplar Bluff and Belle Sexton of St. Charles; six grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Stewart on Nov. 17, 1996.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Larry Ward of Poplar Bluff officiating.

Interment will be held in the Little Brushy Cemetery near Wappapello with full military honors.

Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico is in charge of all arrangements.
