Joy McQuary, the daughter of Anza Gregory Henderson and the late Ray Bennett Henderson, was born near Parma on April 9, 1934, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at the age of 72.

Joy was raised in Dexter, spent many years in Malden and moved back to Dexter in 1980. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Dexter.

She was first married to Clarence "Froggie" Kilmer on Nov. 24, 1950, in Dexter. He preceded her in death in 1975. On Feb. 20, 1992, she was married to Dwight McQuary in Piggott, Ark.

Surviving are her husband, Dwight McQuary of Dexter; her mother, Anza Henderson of Dexter; four daughters, Karen Hoehn and Sharon Deen, both of Malden, Judy Leet of Eureka, and Joanie Greer of Bella Vista, Ark.; three step-sons, Mark and David McQuary, both of Tallahassee, Fla., and John McQuary of Hawaii; one sister, Caryl Clippard of Dexter; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Henderson.

Visitation was held after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Louie Lowe of Dexter officiating.

Interment followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Keller Library in Dexter or the charity of your choice.
