He had lived most of his life in Puxico. He and his wife had owned and operated various businesses including Navajo Motel and Grocery, Smith and Scott Appliance Store; and he retired from the Scott Florist. He had served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Puxico for many years and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. He was a 1933 graduate of Puxico High School.
On Oct. 28, 1939, he was married to Mildred Smith in Puxico.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Scott of Puxico; one son Douglas Scott of Puxico; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, J. Barry Scott; one brother, Altie Scott; and two sisters, Cora Cowgill and Sula Linaweaver.
Visitation was held after 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Rev. Douglas Scott of Puxico officiating.
Interment followed in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico in charge of all arrangements.
