Mr. Baker was united in marriage to Gladys "Peggy" Beasley on July 2, 1938, at Lepanto, Ark. Mrs. Baker preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 2003.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bernie. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He had been a member of the American Legion in Poplar Bluff.
Survivors include one son, Wayman Baker of Poplar Bluff; two daughters, Carmelita Moyse of St. Louis and Carolyn Lemings of Dexter; one sister, Jan Cradduck of Clarkton; one brother, Gwindon Baker of Sebastopol, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Wayne Baker; two brothers, Mervin Baker and Bill Baker; two sisters, Phronie Tomlinson and Adeline Baker.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, at Bradshaw Funeral Chapel with Rev. Earnest Puckett and Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating.
Interment will follow in Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton with military rites.
