Wallace Robert Knight, 83, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Dec. 22, 1922, at Parma, son of Thomas Calvin and Mary Louisa Richardson Knight. He and Frances Iona Brorein were married at Fort Campbell, Ky., on Jan. 22, 1945.

Mr. Knight proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a lifetime member of the Missouri Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, a member of the United Methodist Church at Advance, a farmer, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, St. Louis, and for many years he was president of the Bollinger County Bank in Lutesville.

He is survived by his wife of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Wallace R. Knight, II, Memphis, Tenn., and David B. Knight of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Mary Miller, Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by three brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at the Liley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating.

Interment followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
