He had lived in Dexter for many years and moved to Bloomfield in 1996. He was a diesel mechanic and had worked for Allied Waste and Dexter Transport.
On Jan. 13, 1995, he was married to Lottie Layton in Dexter.
Surviving are his wife, Lottie Layton Scroggins of Bloomfield; two step-sons, Christopher Layton and Michael Layton, both of Bloomfield; two grandchildren; his mother, Margaret Baker of Dexter; two brothers, Garry Scroggins of Dexter and Barry Scroggins of Jackson; two sisters, Marilyn Scroggins and Sandra Prunty, both of Dexter.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. James Malloy of Essex officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
