Ida Veryl Brown, daughter of the late Joe and Nancy Ivy Lawson, was born at Bloomfield on Sept. 27, 1916, and died at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Sept. 22, 2006, at the age of 89.

Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Bloomfield High School. She was a member of Powe Church of Christ in Powe. On Feb. 24, 1940, she married Preston C. Brown at Kennett, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1978. She was also preceded in death by one brother; five half-brothers; five half-sisters; and two step-sons.

Survivors include one step-son, Kenneth Brown of Fla.; two nieces, Marjorie Duley and Betty Fleming, both of Dexter; a nephew, Dennis Gibson of Dexter; nine step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Interment followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
