Beatrice P. Messmore, daughter of the late Charlie and Leona Smothers Whitehead, was born at Naylor on May 7, 1926, and died at her home in rural Bloomfield on Sept. 23, 2006, at the age of 80.

Mrs. Messmore attended Fairview Methodist. On May 9, 1947, she was married to Ralph Messmore, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2003. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ralph Messmore; and three brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Paula Messmore-Arn, M.D., of Kansas City, and Amy Shewell of Puxico; two sisters, Hazel Long of Dallas, Texas, and Verna Alexander of Overland; and six grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Dennis Doublin officiating.

Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery.
