Arthur Lee Davis, son of the late Presley Davis and Janie Hooker Davis, was born on June 11, 1923, in Essex and died at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at the age of 83.

Mr. Davis was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, a former Amoco dealer in Perryville, and a resident of Cape Girardeau.

On Feb. 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to Melba Fern Glenn in Piggott, Ark. Mrs. Davis preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 1980.

Survivors include one son, Darren Davis of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Betty Teason of Jefferson City; two grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sam Ramdial officiating.

Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery.
