Marlene Azbill Norman

Marlene Azbill Norman, daughter of the late Amer and Mozell Azbill, was born on March 5, 1936, in Trumann, Ark. She died in her home on Oct. 3, 2006, at the age of 70.

She attended elementary school at Wardell and graduated from Parma High School. She was united in marriage to James (Rod) Norman at her family home in Parma on March 19, 1955. He preceded her in death in November 2002.

To this union two children were born, Kimberly Norman and James Taylor Norman.

She was a homemaker and an independent business woman.

While living in Parma she sang in the choir and played piano at the Parma First Baptist Church. After moving to Dexter she sang in the choir at the First Baptist Church of Dexter. At the time of her death she was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Dexter.

For the last several years, Mrs. Norman fought a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis and was homebound.

One brother, Lyman Azbill of Paragould preceded her in death in February 2004.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, James and Starrla Norman of Dexter; her daughter, Kimberly Norman of Dexter; her sister, Dolores Bone of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, James Hunter Norman of Dexter, Dustin Nowlin of Franklin, Tenn., and Bridgett Palmer of Malden; five great-grandchildren; and 24 nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Elwood Doss from Martin, Tenn., officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
