Robbie Brigance Janis

Robbie Brigance Janis, daughter of the late Elisha and Mary Floyd Lowery, was born in Arkansas on Aug. 21, 1917, and died at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center on Oct. 21, 2006, at the age of 89.

Mrs. Janis was a homemaker and had lived in Poplar Bluff for many years. She was a member of the Little Brown General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.

On Feb. 10, 1934, she was married to Jess F. Brigance at Dexter. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1990. On Sept. 10, 1992, she was married to Paul Janis in Poplar Bluff who also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Janice Selvidge and Brenda Barker, both of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Curtis Lowery of Dexter, E.J. Lowery of Phoenix, Ariz., and James Leonard Lowery of Arnold; and one sister, Thelma Crouse of Poplar Bluff.

She was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, Janell Brigance.

Visitation was held after 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Willis Smith of Poplar Bluff officiating.

Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter in charge of arrangements.
