Norma Gene "Cookie" Rickman, daughter of the late Edwin J. Stroup and Ethel Baxter Stroup, was born on Feb. 20, 1944, at Hohewold, Tenn., and died at her residence in rural Bernie on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at the age of 62.
Mrs. Rickman was owner and operator of Cookie's Restaurant, formerly of Parma. She had attended the Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church of Malden.
She was united in marriage to Cleo Rickman on Oct. 11, 1961, at Tiptonville, Tenn. Mr. Rickman preceded his wife in death on June 13, 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Anthony Baxter of Bernie and Richard Roy Rickman of New Madrid; one step-son, Richard Rickman of Oklahoma; two daughters, Ramona Lynn Stockton of Pollard, Ark., and Sharon Lee Meadows of Campbell; three step-daughters, Susan Miller of Advance, Betsy Lange of Bloomfield, and Charlotte Stafford of Jackson; one brother, Danny R. Stroup of Malden; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Larry Lacey officiating.
Interment followed in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
