Mary Lou Parsley, the daughter of the late Robert Vanscyoc and Ruby Buchanan Vanscyoc, was born in Asherville on Jan. 3, 1929, and died at her residence near Puxico on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at the age of 77.
Mrs. Parsley had lived in the Puxico area most of her life. She was a member of Duck Creek Baptist Church near Puxico for 51 years. Her hobbies included bird watching, gardening and singing.
On Jan. 8, 1949, she was married to Donald Parsley in Piggott, Ark.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Parsley of Puxico; three sons, Allen Parsley and Edward Parsley, both of Puxico, and William Parsley of Dudley; two daughters, Diane Hawthorne of Puxico and Margie Franklin of St. Clair; 12 grandchildren; four sisters, Emma June Shy of Texas, Saundra Ann Clark and Chuckie Edwards, both of Asherville, and Bobbie Kennedy of Wappapello.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Vanscyoc.
Visitation was held after 4 p.m. Monday. Nov. 6, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at the Duck Creek Baptist Church near Puxico with Rev. Ralph Mayes of Poplar Bluff officiating.
Interment followed in the Duck Creek Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
